Melia and Jeff chose The Venue, a very cool loft location in downtown Asheville, NC, for their destination wedding. Melia has a very cool mix of urban meets casual classic style and this was a perfect for the couple. Guest flew in from all over the country and were met with warm candlelight, a broad array of international foods (favorites of the foodie couple), and downtown Asheville to delight them.
For their romance session, Jeff, Melia and I snuck off to the dark and quiet streets of late night Asheville for about 15 minutes. We played in a piano bar, hung out in the middle of a street for a while, and then skulked in an alley way for a bit. This image is one of my favorites. I placed a flash low and behind the couple. The I just asked them to "BE ROMANTIC NOW!" in my typically soft dulcet commands. I love the bokeh in the shot couple with the light play on Jeffs face and the rim lighting making it a slightly ethereal moment.
I have gotten to spend a lot of time with Jeff and Melia. We have worked together on an epic engagement session, Melia's stunning bridal session, and finally their yummy wedding. Still want to shoot some family sessions with them up north which will happen soon!Appalachian Mountains (3), Asheville (102), Backlighting (27), Destination Wedding (180), Jeff (27), Melia (27), NC (630), Romance Session (87), The Venue (27). 1/10; f/1.2; ISO 1600; 85.0 mm.
