Sometimes a romance session isn't about a couple gazing longingly into one another's eyes. It's about them wrapped in another, entwined and playful. For Kellie and Jarrett's romance session, I wanted to sneak up to their Proximity Hotel room and do a short session while their guests dance the night away. We grabbed the hotel key, Jarrett, carried his bride across the threshold, they jumped on the bed, and we got this sweet little shot of the garter with Kellie's Converse and her gorgeous gown from Diva's Bridal Boutique in Winston-Salem, NC. Jarrett is a minor league baseball player for the Brave farm league so Kellie is wearing an Atlanta Braves garter. Thrilled to say this image won a Fearless Award!
Romance sessions are small mini-sessions between you and your partner taken during the wedding day. Your photographer and planner can work together to select the best times throughout the day when we can take you away for a few minutes. I like to make 2-3 different very short 10-15 minute sessions spread throughout your day. Of course, when we start the sessions will depend on when you and your spouse will see one another for the first time.
If you are doing a first look, we can schedule a romance session, possibly in addition to your family formals, before the actual ceremony. If you will see one another for the first time as you walk down the aisle, then we will schedule your first session during the cocktail hour. Then during your reception, we will steal you away when your guest will be occupied with dinner or when everyone is wildly hitting the dance floor.
By splitting up romance sessions into smaller bites, we can give you a blessed few moments of quiet together, multiple locations in your venue, and breathtaking images of the two of you alone together on your wedding day. You might be surprised by how little time you have alone together on your wedding day and this is the perfect opportunity to achieve both things, We always strive to make these moments wonderful respites in a often frantic day.
However, if you don't want to take time away from your wedding to do a romance session, we have an amazing solution for you! Day After Sessions are a perfect option especially for destination weddings. We will wake up the day after the wedding (or whenever else you would like to schedule your shoot), and get back into our wedding duds. This is a great opportunity to include your pets or go to locations that are out of the way. Then we'll head out and take beautiful environmental romance photos. Since we won't have to sneak away from guests, we can spend extra time exploring and getting amazing dramatic photos! If you would like to discuss which type of romance session is best for you, contact me to discuss.
