Justin and Margaret | A Destination Campground Wedding in Asheville, NC

Traci: What are your three favorite things to do together? Justin:  Road trips/exploring new places, hiking, camping, lounging around the house together.   Traci: What makes you unique as a couple? Margaret: We have a screen print that says, “Oh Darling, let’s be adventurers.” I’m not sure if it’s a style or something that we actually live up to – but it’s more of an ambitious goal.     There are some weddings that I would shoot all over again, if for nothing more than the sheer pleasure of reshooting them. Justin and Margaret’s wedding is absolutely on that list. Justin and Margaret dated for over thirteen years before they got engaged at Wonder Lake in Denali National Park (aka:...

Sherelle and Anthony Are Married | An Uptown Hotel Wedding | Charlotte, NC

I absolutely ADORE Sherelle and Anthony. While chatting at our initial consult, I found out that Sherelle was a pediatric ophthalmologist. It just so happened that my son was in the market for a new eye doctor and since we connected so well, I asked her if she would consider seeing him as a patient. She agreed and ever since, I have been making the drive to Charlotte for Thatcher to see his beloved “Miss Relle”.  She is totally worth it.  She is genuinely nurturing and loving with him which is what is also so evident in her relationship with Anthony and why I was so thrilled to document their love story. Traci: Tell me the one thing that you...

Victoria and AJ | Greek Wedding | Winston-Salem, NC

Victoria has quickly become one of my fearless poster brides. She’s the one on the windmill. When she pointed out the spot that she used to climb as a child during her bridal session, I asked her if she would climb it in her bridal gown. Without hesitation, she did so. Her windmill portrait portrayed her grace, beauty and bravery against a magical sky and a perfect wind. It instantly became one of my favorite bridal portraits and has won a Fearless Award. I was pretty darn excited about her wedding. It did not disappoint. It was at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, one of my favorite places to photograph weddings. It’s colorful, it’s exuberant and they embrace photographers coming...

Tamsin and Tyler’s Campground Wedding | Asheville, NC

When Tamsin and I first spoke, I was on a trip home from Georgia.  I instantly bonded with this darling girl when I heard her sweet disposition and her familiar English accent.  I lived in England years ago and we chatted about places we both knew among many other things.  Before I knew it, we had easily passed an hour and a half of my long drive home. Tamsin met Tyler while he was on assignment in the UK in February 2013. It didn’t take long before the devilishly good looking Tyler was madly in love with the beautiful and creative Tamsin.  After a quick but strong courtship, Tamsin found herself throwing a farewell bash and packing her bags for...

Jeff And Melia Are Married | An Urban, Vintage Wedding in Asheville, NC

Jeff seriously lucked out when he interviewed for a job at a market research firm in Durham.  Not only did he score a job; he also met his future wife, Melia. Jeff and Melia’s relationship started as a working one.  As their friendship grew, they found each other hanging out and talking a little more…and a little more.  Jeff admits to offering Melia rides to company softball games just to spend more time with her.  They had so much fun when they were together that before long, Jeff was orchestrating an elaborate plan to propose to Melia at the softball field where they had spent so much time together. Jeff and Melia love Asheville, NC’s vintage feel with a modern...

Beth and Jonathan | Deerfields Retreat | Horseshoe, NC

Meeting your future bride at a steampunk wedding gives you pretty good insight into the level of awesomeness to expect.  I was thrilled when Beth and Jonathan got engaged and they called me to photograph their campground wedding just outside of Asheville, NC. Beth and Jonathan met in July 2011 at Transformus, an annual outdoor festival at Deerfields, Beth was relaxing at her camp, sipping on a margarita, when she noticed the camper next to her struggling to put up his tent canopy.  After he entertained her for a while with his tent pitching efforts, she decided to lend him a hand and they were inseparable for the rest of the weekend.  The only snafu in their budding relationship?  He lived...

Sarah and Derek Are Married | A Wine Tasting Wedding in the in Elkin, NC

Sarah and Derek’s story starts with a work conference and a shoe.  Two Christian Louboutin dark blue shoes with a fiery red sole to be exact. Sarah and Derek had worked together from afar on projects but met for the first time when an annual leadership meeting brought them into the same room.  Derek managed to work Sarah’s shoes into what Sarah says was the “best pick up line ever!”    Before the conference was over, their fate was sealed. Sarah and Derek’s closest friends and family were in for a treat when they received the invitation to celebrate their special day.  This was no ordinary wedding!  They all loaded onto a party bus (all weddings should start with a...

Neala and Ben Are Married | A Tryon Palace Wedding

I gotta tell you…I am a little bit in love with fearless brides.  They make my job feel easy.  And really fun. Fearless is embracing the tree you have become, without forgetting your roots.  I knew as soon as I met Neala, I had myself a fearless bride. Neala is a talented and sophisticated interior designer from NYC.  She possesses grace and confidence which results in an effortless beauty.  She and I spent a day together, shooting her bridal portrait, chatting about her and Ben’s courtship, her deep roots to New Bern, North Carolina and her wedding design.  I could tell she was passionate about all three and I knew that those emotions would shine right through in the wedding...

Amita and Nitin Are Married | Indian Wedding in Huntsville, AL

I have been dying to shoot an Indian wedding for a while now and Amita and Nitin’s lush, colorful, joyous event was the perfect initiation. There were performances by the incredibly talented guests, gorgeous backdrops with riots of color, tons of laughter throughout the weekend long event, and even a horse drawn carriage and dancing during the Baarat. Many thanks to the very happy couple!A big thank you to all the vendors who put together this gorgeous weekend-long event.

Amanda and Dave Are Married | Museum of Natural Sciences, Raleigh, NC

Amanda is a photographer so when she and Dave approached me about their wedding, I knew the bar was set high. Wanting something unique for their wedding, they chose the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh, NC. Amanda’s love of intense colors and the proximity to Valentine’s Day brought out lots of red and gold everywhere. They gave me so many details to play with and I was in photographic heaven…

Tara and Sam Are Married | A Fearrington Village Wedding, Pittsboro,NC

Tara and Sam are doctors finishing up their medical degrees at Duke University. Somewhere in the midst of their exams, rounds, and taking care of some really sick people, they managed to plan a simply gorgeous and very personal wedding at one of my favorite venues in North Carolina, Fearrington Village. I grew up wandering around my grandparents’ farm, chasing the cows, and getting into loads of mischief so I always feel right at home at this beautiful, upscale farm venue. (Note: the farm I grew up on, while very beautiful, could definitely not be called “upscale”.) What impressed me most, aside from the Tara and Sam’s obvious glee at getting married to one another, was the intricate and personal details throughout...

Melissa and Brad Are Married | Grace Episcopal Church and Crest Terrace, Asheville, NC

Any time you get to travel to Asheville, NC, it’s a good thing and this wedding only made the trip all the better. Melissa and Brad are the sweet couple that met me at Jump-Off Rock in Laurel NC a few months back. Their wedding was sweet, gentle, and very family oriented. Plus they gave me some of the best vendors in the area to work with so there was no shortage of beautiful things to shoot. And then there was THAT sky at sunset. Glorious.
